SmartLocker (“SmartLocker”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through our website (the “Site”), why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have.
We handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other applicable privacy laws.
02Information we collect
We only collect the information you choose to give us, plus limited technical information needed to run the Site.
- Quote requests: your name, company or organisation, work email, phone number, the product you are interested in, and any project details you add.
- Contact messages: your name, email, phone number (if you provide it), the topic you select, and your message.
- Technical information: when you visit, our hosting provider and the services that deliver our fonts and scripts automatically receive standard information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. We do not use this to identify you.
The Site does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.
03How we use your information
We use the information you provide to:
- respond to your quote request or message;
- prepare quotes and arrange demonstrations or site visits;
- provide support for SmartLocker systems you already use;
- keep records of our communications with you;
- meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
We will not use your information for marketing emails unless you have agreed to receive them, in line with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). You can withdraw that consent at any time.
04Consent
By submitting a form on the Site and ticking the consent box, you agree that we may collect and use your information as described in this policy. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. If you withdraw consent, we may not be able to respond to your request.
05How we share your information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only:
- with service providers who help us run the Site and our business, such as our website host (GitHub Pages) and our form processing provider (Formspree), who may only use it to provide their services to us;
- with SmartLocker staff and authorised installation or service partners who need it to respond to your request;
- where required by law, or to protect our rights, property or safety, or that of others.
06Where your information is stored
Our service providers may store and process information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. When information is held in another country it may be subject to that country’s laws and accessible to its authorities. We take reasonable steps to make sure our providers protect your information to a standard comparable to Canadian law.
07How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here. Enquiries that do not lead to a business relationship are generally deleted within 24 months. Information connected to a customer account is kept for the life of the relationship and as required for legal, tax and warranty purposes.
08How we protect it
We use reasonable physical, administrative and technical safeguards to protect personal information against loss, theft and unauthorised access, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) for every page and form. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
09Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. To make a request, contact our Privacy Officer using the details below. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
10Children
The Site is intended for businesses and organisations. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version takes effect when it is posted on this page, and the effective date at the top will change.
